Has any one found a good source for the rubber mounting studs that support most early Ebrspacher bus heaters? I have been told they were used in other applications (like radiator mounts) in other non VW cars but have no clue where to look ...anyone had to replace them on your buses? where should I look for new ones if available?

The are also used on fuel pumps on MB and BMW and water cooled injected VW's. Not exactly the same but will work .

Moss Motors has them for MGB exhaust hangers. Also Volvos use them. The Grainger idea is good too as they are used as motor isolators. It's mossmotors.com but they are more like the shorter ones.

can you confirm any of the above sources / applications actually use the exact same part ? since my heater is in my 56 23 window, I am very intrested in keeping the stock look of everything
I am sure others who have these heaters will are chasing these as well

I can confirm the Moss ones are not the same. They are SAE and the real deal is metric. The Volvo ones might be metric. You better find some nos ones.

After several hours of research on the net, I found a supplier of "rubber anti vibration mounts" that stocked something that I hope will work. The ones Ebrspacher and VW used are called "bobbin mounts" ...they are black rubber and round like the originals with metric studs and are within one or two mm of the original dimensions

http://www.avproductsinc.com/Bobbins.html

Cat#2525a18 for the heater(should work for a BN4)
Cat#2015a18 for the early intake tube mount on pre 1963 heaters

I ordered the ones for the main heater and the small one that supports the intake pipe that is bolted to the underside of the left "battery tray" where the metal pipe passes through.
(for those who have not looked closely at an early heater, they do not use a cardboard combustion intake tube like the later BN4's ,they have a solid tube that has a rubber mount on it)
They were $7.50 each
