new to glass buggy, I picked up a buggy last month the doner beetle is 1962. could not shift down to 1st or 2nd so I bought a new cupler and atemted to replace it, i noticed the cover in the pane was sheet mettle that somone bent and shaped to fit (made a hump out of it) the cupler is an old style and it stuck up above the pan, somone noched the tunell so that the trans nose cone will fit,
my question is could this be a differnt trans, than a 62 or could it have the wrong trans mounts that causes the transmisition to be higher in tunnell
thanks in advanced for any help |

Something is not right...... 62 pan with "standard" swing axle trans should be totally inside tunnel.... Could be somebody has worked over trans mounts or changed to bus or some other trans...
Pictures would help....

IF your chassis is truley a 62, you have a "bastardised" front mount on chassis.... It has nosecone pushed up to high...
This is trans mount (for chassis) you need...
