:( I have a 74 camper with bad front wheel bearings. Do I have to take the caliper off to be able to remove the hub and do I have to have the new bearings pressed in; I'm new at this!

thanks any help

You do own a Bentley or idiot manual, right?

Yes you have to remove the caliper to remove the hub, the rotor can stay on the hub and you can hang the caliper out of the way with a piece of wire so you don't need to remove the hose. The outer bearing races can be driven out and in with a brass drift (10" of 1/2"-3/4" rod), wipe all the grease out of the center of the hub to see the shiny edges to hit.

Hold onto the old race from the hub and use it to start driving the new race in. I use a piece of wood over it to distribute the force evenly. I think its easier to get it started going in straight by doing this but thats just me.. Don't bang it all the way in with the old race as it will get stuck in the hub too then ya gotta knock em both out and start over..

Take a belt sander to the outside of the old races, take a few thousands off the od and they will make great tools for driving the new races all the way in.

Good idea! I never think of anything that useful :)..

Just like setup bearings/races when working on differentials 8) Good idea indeed.

Or, you could even be so bold as to use the proper tool.
