View original topic: Stainless bolts -- Where?

I've checked all local fastener suppliers, four FLAPS, and the John Deere shop with nil results in finding three M8 x 16 stainless bolts to install my new tailpipe to my new muffler. I found one online supplier who would sell me a bag of 100. Big help there. From whom are these available? Anyone know?

I found all of mine at ACE hardware when I lived in California.

I too have bought them at lowes. I also have bought them locally at a store called Fastenal. If you google it you can locate a store near you.

I still use a bit of anti-sieze and the copper sealing nuts also.

Where are you located?

Thanks everyone for your quick replies. Locally, I checked OSH, two other hardware stores, and a farm supply store -- nuthin'. Farm Supply recommended McMasters-Carr site. Anyone heard of it? I went there and they will sell me a pack of 25 bolts for ten bucks. I'll keep looking, thanks.

There is no chandlery here. Ace in next town, 20 mi. May try there. Lowes 109 mi. Forget it. Local Fastenal - nope. There is a chandlery about 50 mi. from here. I may try there also as there is a very nice park to camp in.

I plan to use anti-seize and copper nuts on the muffler/heater box flange, but the tailpipe flange doesn't have nuts, which is how I'm beginning to feel!

I'm on the CA central coast, southern section.

I would start with Lowes, Home Depot, or West Marine. Each should have what you want. A place like Jamestown Distributors has all sorts of marine grade stuff, though I am not sure what they handle in metric.

McMaster-Carr is awesome. For all that driving and gas might as well get it done online.
