| What are these going for these days? I found one yesterday that hasn't been state inspected since 1977 and is mostly complete except for no gates. It is rusty and dented up, but looks cool as hell. Thinking of getting it in shape mechanically (still has 36 horse), driving it a while as a hoodride and then probably selling it. So about what is the price range as is and then as a rusty, beat up driver? |

Here are 2 possible comparisons from the classifieds

Of course, they are still for sale so take that into account.
The first one seems really high to me - personal opinion.
A '56 is worth more than a '60 as well. |

| I paid a bit more for my '56 single than this one http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=449334 but I think mine is in somewhat better shape. |

Remember, gates are hard to find in decent shape. and people have issues with shipping large objects like side gates. They shouldn't have issues with shipping tailgates which can go fedex, but sometimes they do. So it boils down to this:
A gateless truck is a gateless truck and has a big hit against it.
Since I can't see it, I suggest keeping it in the $1000 range for a gateless crusty truck. But who knows, it could be worth less or more.
Title?
36hp ended in mid '59. |

| If you plan on selling it in the future you don't want to start drilling holes or welding weird hinges etc... as noone wants that crap on a bus or sc, dc... If you plan on just driving it and keeping it do what you find works for you. |
