hi there, just a few symptoms id like to clear up with you guys to see what you think

i just had a used progressive carb put on the van, work way better than before--much more power

however i noticed today that when i drive around 70 km/h the engine sounds like its reving higher, losing a bit of power. if i give it more gas or tap the gas it goes away but happens again every few minutes

another problem i have which may be unrelated is when i come to a stop then give it gas it sputters a bit and sounds like its going to shut off--then dosnt and keeps driving fine

just a few anoying problems i assume are carb related, im just a bit pissed as i just dropped 800$ into it in repairs two days ago

any help would be greatly appreciated
thanx

Fuel filter? With all the fuel system work sounds like something fuel-delivery related is clogged -

72 bus with an automatic isn't it?

I am sure that there is some sort of vacuum connection bewteen the carb and the transmission. How is yours?

It can take hours of tuning to get a progressive to work correctly in a type 4 engine. Most factory distributors do not like the vacuum signature they deliver either, so maybe somebody here who has done it before can shed some light on it.

We are going to need to know what brand and model of progressive it is to help you at all. There are many different ones out there. A bog coming off idle is pretty normal for a Weber clone, many people just jet their carbs too run way rich to get rid of it and suffer the resulting poor mileage. There are other ways, but it often takes extraordinary steps to obtain a good running progressive.

I don't think there is any problem matching the vacuum signal from a progressive to a single advance dizzy. I certainly have never seen any problem there myself.

There are lots of threads on progressives, time to do a little searching and reading.

yeah i figured it might be the fuel filter, i assumed he would have swapped it when he did the carb change but maybe not---the only thing is i cant seem to find it, i have a 914 engine btw
