Hey everybody, im still having issues with my carburetor the 30 pict 2 that i just bought. I had it on there before and couldnt get it running well. Idle fluctuating and just running bad in general. So i took it off, cleaned it out and rebuilt it. Slapped it back on there and it's still giving me the same trouble. This time i took alot longer trying to get it to work. I had the mixture screw bottomed out and smelled the exhaust and it smelled like it was running rich, not a slight rich, but heavy rich. On top of that it was missfiring too. Which leads me to believe that it has to be the fuel pump sending to much pressure. Or the needle valve is the incorrect size. I dont know if that could be a factor. Someone was telling me that these carbs do like low fuel pressure. The bummer is that i have some brazilian fuel pump on there and i dont know if you can shim it up or where to get shims for this thing. Would it be best to replace it with a new fuel pump that was more so stock. And I would prefer to leave it mechanical, no electric for me.

Stick your vaccum/fuel pressure gauge on there and find out for sure what kind of pressure you are putting out and shim it if required.
