| Drove it to school the past 3 days instead of my '09 GTI. I actually prefer the Beetle... |

went for a drive to see if my carb icing problem would disappear like the cold temps did for the weekend. went fine until i went full throttle. the engine sputtered and stopped. after 30 mins of driving, stopping, driving, stopping i finished the remaining 3 mile limp back home. got home started it, went back to look, gave it a little gas and it would sputter and die. didnt see any fuel coming through the filter (go ahead and yell at me for having next to the carb) to the carb. suspecting a shot fuel pump. ordered one from autozone and it should arrive tomorrow morning. hopefully thats all it was.
also tightened the lose wire connection at the coil and replaced a vacuum line that wasnt tight enough |

Congrats!
Today I learned how to change points and adjust them. :D
Drove my car down to my parents' house where my dad and I inspected my points, determined they needed to be replaced, and he supervised while I changed them out. Then we hooked up an analyzer and strobe light and timed my 009 at 3000rpm. Runs much better now!
After that, we spent the rest of the day stripping a 1968 rolling chassis I picked up last weekend for $100. Don't worry; the pan was rusted through in the rear, and the shell AND the pan were cracked all the way through in the front...I kept the glass, fenders, hood, deckild, doors, front and rear axles, wheels, and transmission.
My dad went to town on the shell with a Sawzall (his favorite tool EVER lol).
Pics:
^^That's all the sheetmetal under there minus the hood, decklid, doors, and roof BTW |

(Yesterday)
I put a new exhaust on my car about a week ago. Started hearing a *slight* leak so inspected the hardware and found a couple of the nuts could use a bit more tightening (after a week's worth of driving). I tightened them back up and problem went away. |

Fixed the previous owner's BRUTAL rust repair on the d/s heater channel, replaced the plugs (had 2 bosch platinum, one autolite and one champion... what was this moron thinking? And none of them were actually plus for a 1600, let alone a damn Volkswagen), replaced the muffler and she's fweeming like she was new.
Also drove her to work every day this week. Life is good. |

Burned about a quart of oil in 50 miles yesterday. Drove it to the garage and back, bellowed smoke like a tire fire.
Did some work on the subaru harness, about 90 percent done with that. Just have to do up a fuse/relay/computer board and i'll be all good |
