Cut off the tarboard tangs in the engine compartment. Hooked up new rear brake lines from master cylinder to rear wheels. Got the drums put back on and new rear wheels installed.

Today I finally finished painting my 8-spoke Empi replicas. I can't wait to get them on the car! They look really nice.

Also, installed a set of air adjust shocks to help the saggy rear end of my car. It wasn't really bad before, but I've never attempted the torsion bar adjustment before and didn't want to injure myself or go too far on the adjustment, etc. The rear end sag was noticeable and for $75.00 and two hours' worth of my time, I fixed the problem.

Cell phone pics of no air assist vs. air assist (much more noticeable when you're actually looking at the car w/out use of photos):

Thank you going out to Cusser for all the helpful info! :D

Stripped the old running boards

dissembled the drums ready for mediablasting

wire-wheeled the sway bar

made ANOTHER shopping list!

Hopefully you aren't super tall and hit your knee on that pod. But I love the gauges! They look real nice with your dash color.

There are two adapter sleeves to fit a genuine VW steering wheel in a mexican Sedan: 26 mm (for brazilian steering wheels) / 45 mm (for german steering wheels) but I do not know if works for german Beetles.

Thanks. I sat in the drivers seat to make sure plus I ride with my seat further back and I'm 5' 7 so I'm good to go. :)

I extended my shock towers so that I can lay beam with my air shocks. Actually, that's not a today job, that's taken me about 4 days (so far). :D

Sanded my roof :) dropped the sander on my hand when it was running. Thats what happens when unexperienced 16 year olds use power tools >.>. could have done more but i found it quite tiring.....

After a few problems that I couldn't figure out, I towed the car to a local air-cooled expert. He installed the DVDA dizzy in place of the 009 - and finally, the car will idle! All this time I spent trying to find that elusive vacuum leak, and it turns out that it was just the dizzy not playing nicely with the stock carb.
