Can someone let me know the size of the factory seat belt bolt? Do the stock bolts have a shoulder or are full thread? Thanks

Stock bolts have a sholder for the belt mounting tab to rotate on....Metric and I think fine thread, But I have no way to check what size.

14 millimeter I believe.

Standard thread size should be 7/16" unf. The seatbelt mounts are the only imperial threads on a Bug...

Ok here is what I found out
A VW should be Metric

So the repa 8.8 seat belt bold and Nut I have, looks to be a 1.25 thread pitch and 12mm according to the die and thread pitch gauge.......
Now the 7/16-20 tap is very close but does not thread smoothly into the seat belt nut.

Thanks, I'll try a 12*1.25. Probably no chance of finding these with shoulders.

Cut down a piece or tubing or find a collar to fit.

I am pretty sure I have some original spares, how many do you need?

I'm trying to get the car to pass tech for local 1/8th mile. My options are to use the metric equivalent of grade 8 hardware or weld in tabs and use standard grade 8 bolts.
