A week ago we needed to pick up a Vanagon in Tahoe area that broke down. I borrowed a friends Chevy Tahoe and headed up the hill from Sacramento towing a single axle trailer. I know it was a stupid idea to load a Vanagon onto a single axle trailer. The person we borrowed the trailer from said it would be no problem.
I was not impressed with the Chevy at all downshifting every slight grade we came across into second gear using a ton of fuel...
After over 2 hours of loading the Vanagon onto the too small trailer we headed off. I drove about 1 mile and noticed that the tires of the trailer were not going to handle the heavy weight of this Vanagon.
We found a good spot to "dump" the van off and decided to come back the next week with a better trailer.
In the mean time I needed to tow a different Vanagon from Placerville area back down to Sacramento. I took my Synfalia and a tow dolly and towed it back to Sac. I was pleasantly surprised on how well it towed.
Soooooo, we decided to "chance" it and rescue the Vanagon from Tahoe with the Synfalia. I have to admit I was nervous about this trip a little bit.
We loaded up and headed back down the hill. Those of you who know this area know there are several long up-hills (long) on the way back down to Sacramento.
I set the cruise control at 60mph (I know we were still speeding towing a trailer :D ) and the Synfalia pulled right up those long hills.
Turbo boost spiked 22lbs and held there for several seconds then came back down to it's normal 16lbs under load but we never fell below 60. Impressed again.
The stopping though..... Even with upgraded front brakes stopping the load does take some effort. Well lets just say, if someone pulled out in front of us the tires would have locked up but both vans would have kept going..
Oh, we used less fuel than the Chevy Tahoe loaded with another Vanagon.. |

I'm not impressed.
With 240 hp I want pics of a wheelie, with that kind of power you should be able to hold it for 2 blocks at least.
Let's see some pics.... :P |

| I know they can tow eachother. And I also tow a Vanagon with a Rabbit truck... No doubt it can do the job! Cheers! |
