Ok i bought this car for 500 bucks first one. Trying to figure out what it is exactly. I believe it aint a manx. So is it a cheap knock off. Secondly im looking for someone to tell me how to get the hood off so i can get access to the fuel tank to drain it. And clean it. Its full of gas from 10 years ago.
Thirdly im wondering... is having problems with the way the seats are in the car. Wondering if someone has a good type of seat that they reommend to put in. As well as the proper bracketing that they would recommend. Looking for something that aint to expensive. And as well im thinking that the roll bar is too far or close to the front. Has anyone ever moved theres or any suggestions
Car is a 1970 it has a vw pan underneath.
Thanks
RW

You know, that body style came up here a few weeks ago I believe...
Check for a thread with something like this for title "bet you guys had carb access like this"....
As for getting hood off , there is probably a series of bolts or screws along line where hood joins to fenders, probably accessible from under fender (behind front wheels). Also there may be a brace or bracket extending down from windshield (inside body) to tub that helps secure hood.... It varies somewhat from build to build, depending on what person assembling car though would be his "good idea"...
As for seating.... That is pretty much personal choice, lots of options and opinions.... I personally went with aftermarket "full suspension" seats on sliders. had to hand fabricate brackets and method of securing them but results were exceptionally comfortable...I can only suggest you stay away of "Poly" seats if you are going to spend any time in buggy, does not take long to realize poly seats are not comfortable, but you can spend hours on good suspension seat ( either aftermarket or salvage yard) and still "walk" once you get out....

| The thread that Dale M. is talking about is a build by a Samba member named "Glasser" who has what appears to be the same buggy body as you except he has the engine cover. |

| Ya that's the same as Glasser's buggy and one that we have in my club. It's missing the engine cover though. The tell tale signs are the wide ridge between the fenders and the hood ridge. I've been told that it was a made in Alberta design. |
