Nice looking car. Barnfind? Looks like it's been sitting awhile.

HerrrKafer Sun Aug 24, 2008 12:02 pm

Looks good, what's its story? Are we allowed to pick it apart? :D
OG pigalle interior by any chance? [-o<

I wish my car looked that good.

Nice car, I'm sure you will like it. The one Bug that I always wish I had kept was a Bahama Blue 1966. Original 1300 and 6 volt, the smoothest and most trouble free Bug I have ever owned.

I've got a white/red '66 too!

I've got a seesand/black 6 volt 1966 too! I would sell all my Harley's before I sell my bug.

What part of Arkansas are you living in? My home is in Southeast Missouri.

Man.. that seasand Bug reminds me of my first car... a '66 Bug in the same color, but my dad had painted the exterior pale yellow... but the interior was still the seasand, which I though was a very cool color.

Not quiet a barnyard find it was sitting in a carport in Arkadelphia AR for about 7 years the tag expired in 2001 yes you can pick it apart I could use some advise sorry don't know what the interior is. here is a pick of it.

HerrrKafer Sun Aug 24, 2008 4:21 pm

My "quick glance" notes would be, fender beading should be white, centers of wheels should be black, poor quality replacement front bumper, non original upholstery, carpets and mats. Hey, you asked for it. :P

Looks like a really nice find though. Would be perfect either as a driver or as a base for resto.

Here's my white/red '66. Its still got the original 1300 and is still 6 volt. Its going to be my daily driver.

How is she mechanically? if solid all you need to do is clean her up alittle. Take your time and enjoy your progress! I was able to clean my bumpers up with some steel wool and some good chrome polish!
Keep her original, you have a great little car there!

Steel wool... on chrome?? OY #-o ! Didnt it scratch the snot out of your crome? I would use a chrome paste, lots of fresh terry cloth towels and lots of patience.

BTW, very nice looking car, Stooby :) .

Stooby,

I'm working on a factory stock '66 with your same color configuaration. This car has never been painted, nor has the interior been revamped. It was originally an Arizona car. There is no rust whatsoever on this vehicle. You oughta see the original bumpers. They still have a wonderful shine. Regretfully, this '66 has electrical woes, and I am currently in the process of restoring it to its original functional 6 Volt set-up. That's another issue however, then I've gotta deal with the front end being way out of whack.

Not to disagree with HerrKafer, but this car has black fender beading, and it's never been taken apart bodywise as far as I can tell. It appears that your interior has been changed from the factory. Your passenger side door panel should not have the pocket, but retain the armrest. Well, at least this one in my garage is like that. Your driver's door panel should have the pocket, but no armrest. It looks like there's aftermarket carpet. The seat belts are black, they should be red. But this is all picky sh*t.

Looking at your dash, there is a knob to the right of the ashtray. I'm not sure what that's for, or what its function is. You may have a European '66 that was shipped here to the States. Or (in addition to) you have a '66 that was changed at a local dealership for whatever reason. So many of the '66's came over here and where optimized by dealerships for greater sales potential. Like radios installed, and the rain shields over the door windows, etc.

Keep us informed, that's a nice looking '66!!!!

No doubt the carpet, seat uphostery, floor mats, fender beading and several other things are not proper. However, it looks like a solid foundation - so it was a good find. I didnt want to pick apart unless asked. Then.... !

Serously, it looks like a good car with lots of potential. I'm sure he'll inquire when it's time to sort things out :D

Thanks for the info. This is the direction I think im going to go with the car .Dont know whose cars they are.So the things brought up are ok with me . I hope to get it running in a few days. By the way the thing to the right of the ashtray is a cigaret lighter.

67 Florida Deluxe Sun Aug 24, 2008 6:40 pm

The cigarette lighter is an opitonal extra. Very cool. It also appears to have the proper radio  !

It looks nice and original, word of advise, DO NOT break the red hazard light switch, mine was broken when I got it, took a while to find one, 66 is one year only, $50 from THe Samba classifieds! Here is a few pics of mine, incase you may think of going in another direction. They are only original once though, I have a rusty primered 70 that I would have no hesitation to turn into a Baja, rat rod, etc, but a nice OG car is just that.

Any of you Samba experts care to take a stab at the paint color? As I have NO idea if its a factory color, the color in the interior pic is what it actually looks like when not under a big ass parking lot light...... Sorry to thread jack but its been bugging me! :D
