View original topic: Convertible windows.... Do they they pivot? or tilt?

Just like the subject line says. I have huge gaps between my new window rubber (new Wolfsburg stuff) and the top frame. and also the between the quarter windows, and side windows.

Two different sources told me there are "adjustment screws" inside the doors and rear quarter panel to "tilt" the windows.

Is this true? Am I getting my chain pulled? or are they simply ignorant...Like me. Can anyone shed some light on this mystery?

Should note the entire top is new. Frame powder coated etc... New rubber, but things just don't line up correctly. Lots of wind noise! and small leaks too!

You know they say, "a picture is worth 1000 words". Need to see one before I go trying to take out the windows. (which I hear is one hell of a job! )

Well I have a earlier vert, but the info is pretty much same....

Wolfsburgwest has a lot of great parts...however convertible rubber isnt one of them...Chuck from Chucks convertibles is the man with the correct fitting parts. I re-chromed and installed the window frames on my 56 vert and I had trouble with all the WW stuff, but Chucks stuff fit like a glove. Seems like that isn't exactly the problem though.

Yes there are 2 adjustment screws on the inside of the door jam, also the tilt is handled by a bracket on the arm of rear window regulators...all this stuff is shown in detail in the Bentley manual for your car http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=ACC%2DC10%2D9651

Here are some pictures for an oval vert from a good friends Bentley manual before I bought my own which was priceless :) ...should be similar:

I agree removing, restoring, and re-installing vert window frames and rubber is a pretty crappy job :) mine still aren't perfect, but acceptable. Good luck.

I think that is exactly what I needed to know and see! If it wasn't midnight, Id be in the garage right now playing with the stop plates and such!

You have been a great help. I feel I really can't thank you enough. D~
And...unbelievably fast as well!

Did I say "thank you" already?
