The wacky female hex isn't a spell cast from my wife...
after hugging my transmission for about an hour yesterday to remove my starter/solenoid I am at a loss. I removed the lower hex nut on the starter and was working on the upper one and found out that on my 1968 912 the upper bolt on the starter is a female Hex bolt. As in, I put a metric Allen wrench about 8mm or bigger into the hole of it and it broke it free.
After turning it for quite some time it had about 1/4" of free play in the bolt head but wouldn't come out any farther.
I pried a flat head under the bolt head while turning and it didnt seem to work. Is that upper starter bolt about 4 inches long and i just need to keep going or what?
Thanks for any insight |
