| Unfortunately DMV in california has really messed up the buggy registrations. if you go to the dmv on the first day of the year that they are open you can re-register (from scratch) any spcns vehicle and it will be smog exempt, you will have to jump through some hoops to do it though. I did it last year with a porsche speedster that was built in the 80's they made me go to chp for verifications and a new vin number sticker, then to the smog referee just to record how bad it polutes, then the smog referee put down the year as 1965 for me on the paperwork, then I had to get a brake and lamp certification, then they wanted me to get a title bond for it and turn in a sheet stating how much I had paid in parts to construct it..its a real PITA but I will be doing it again for my manx |
