Hi all,

I am an enthusiast in Sweden looking for some caliper info. I am told that 72-73 are some kind of "2-year-only" deal on the Type3 calipers. My questions are wether there are other models / cars that use the same calipers and if so which they are. I'd also like to know where to get hold of rebuilt / new calipers for my 1972 Fastback. Any help is highly appreciated. Cheers! / Jonas

It was easier to rebuild my calipers and much cheaper as well. All total, it was about 50 bucks. WHATEVER you do, do NOT lose the two rubber grommets between the halves when you split them. Finding new or rebuilt calipers was like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles. For me anyway.

OK, good call... where did you get hold of a repair kit? Thanks in advance! / Jonas

cip1, if you decide to paint your calipers, use only a high quality CALIPER paint. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and effort. Also, if you dont already know, paint them BEFORE the rebuild while they are apart. The kit runs 18.00 per side and is very easy to install. I have done the ones on my 72 and an extra set for back up and also the set on my 67. No problems, no worries, stops on a dime and makes change, everytime!

Jim Adney here is the states rebuilds calipers, and does not recommend splitting the 2 halves. Especially since the seals DO NOT come in the kits.
The front calipers on the 72-73, are the same as early 914 Porsche, and Type 4.
