Im wondering what is the correct dizzy for the engine? I obviously need to get hold of one asap.
Its a 1969 Auto Squareback, 1600 Engine (U0462746)
Dual Carbs not FI
At the moment it has a dizzy with the numbers:
0 231 137 037
211 905 205 P
Is this correct?
If its not correct, can anyone tell me the correct dizzy replacement for my engine? I need to get one asap.
Thanks in advance. |

Correct 1600 Dual Carb Single Port ('66): 311 905 205F
Correct 1600 Dual Carb Dual Port ('67): 311 905 205G
Same parts, different curves. |

But do these also cover the 69 1600 engine? Sorry for what might be a stupid question, but I have to be sure before I dish out some cash. :)
Cheers! |

| Neither is correct for a '69 dual carb engine, but unless your car is European, '69 dual carb is incorrect. I gave the two closest stock options if you use PDSITs, the internals in all 1600 engines are pretty much the same, just match the distributor to your heads and manifolds. |

Yep ok sounds good.
Myself and the 69 are in Australia at the moment, I'm told it may have been imported from somewhere else at some stage, Chassis VIN is 369100727. Looks like I have some research to do.
I'm not sure what you mean by matching the heads and manifolds to the dizzy but I'm sure I'll work something out.

Basically if you have a dual port head, which you should in a 69, then you have a distributor that should work reasonably well in your car.
Not sure about australia but in US a 69 would only come with fuel injection. thus the comment about dual carbs not being correct. I'm not 100% certain that all markets got FI in 69. but someone may have converted the FI to dual carbs at some point like many here in the USA. |

For the early ones replacement distributors use the new style cap and rotor and bastard points. Lots of choices for you.

I have found that indeed the heads are dual port.
I have had it suggested I use one of these dizzy's:

Anyone? Does this sound ok?

Won't fit.
If you have an FI distributor, take out the trigger points, and I heard those work fine.
Worst case scenario, get an (Bosch) 009 for the time being. |

I don't think there's any need to remove the trigger points. They won't cause any problems, since they're not connected to anything.
I use this page for reference a lot too, as noted above: http://www.oldvolkshome.com/ignition.htm#C1970FM |
