| i need some help, ive got a 66' bug thats as strait as an arrow, no apron damage, with a ball joint beam with no shock towers, i was wondering how narrow of a beam i can run with some 5 lug empis before they start to rub on the inside of the wheel wells, the narrower the better, i am also wondering whats the lowest profile tire i can use on the empi's? i used to run spares back in the day on my 4.5" fuch's but i know they wont fit on the empis, ive been told the lowest profile for my empis are 164/45's. any help would be great |

| well you can run an 7 in narrowed beam then for tires I would roll 145/65 up front and 185/65 out back |

my 66 has a -6" beam. i had empi 5's until i changed to Flat4 Enkei's last week. 145/65/15 fronts and 185/65/15 rears. the empis and the enkeis both rub inner fender. and i don't really like the 145/65/15 on a ball joint car. this car isn't as low as my 63 and it drags beam ALOT more. as soon as i go through these 145/65s i'm going 175/55/15 up front. i changed to 205/65/15 out back with the enkeis as i wanted to try them. well i wish i had went with 195/65/15 like i usually use. the 205 is a hair to big and the 185/65/15 is way to small for my taste.
this car had the -6 under it when i bought it. i'm personally a fan of -5. the good news is i plan on doing a disc swap on this car so by the time you figure the added track from those i should be just about where i want it...ken.... |
