I purchased a half completed restoration project '62 bug, and noticed an interesting set of holes on the driver's side door, just below the vent window. Looking back at original photos of the car prior to being restored (provided by p.o.), the holes are there. Does anyone know what purpose these serve? Some badging perhaps? I'm stumped, and the previous owner has no clue either! can anyone shed some light on these? Thanks.

| That could be a mirror from any car or aftermarket mirror since your car was new I doubt you will ever come across it. I was wondering why didn't the PO seal up holes he didn't know what were for before painting it. |

| yeah they're for after market mirrors...i have the same thing with my bug ( po put baby tornado mirros on the car ) |

| It could be one of a number of different mirrors. My car had the same holes when I bought it. |

| ditto. my 72 super had the mirrors still installed when I got the car. removed the mirrors and there they were... identical holes. i can't remember the name of the mirrors but i still have them in a box somewhere. |

Answered your own question. I remember many years ago a neighbor's kid was so desperate to put those on his bug he used a sharp nail and finishing hammer to make the holes because he didn't have a drill. Yours could be much worse. |

| yes!!! those are the mirrors....they where on my car and i didnt like the way they looked and i took them off, so now i need to have the holes filled in |
