I did some searching here, and think I know the answer, but I'd appreciate a confirmation.
Both the 1.9 and 2.1 used the same size oil drain plugs, (14mm) and anything different is a replacement for (likely) stripped threads or some other goof. Is this correct?
I have a 1.9 and a 2.1 and was just changing the oil on each. I needed a 17mm 6-pt socket to get off the 2.1 plug, and I didn't have a copper washer big enough.
When I did the 1.9, it was a 13mm socket, and the 14mm washers I've got on hand for the Vanagon, and I think other VWs I've had, worked fine.
