What is the number stamped on the original glass indicator lenses? (55-57)
My 57 has clear plastic lenses with hella k718 stamped on them. |

Yes, the glass for the turn signals.
My question is does the original glass turn signals say k2718?
and are all the plastic ones repros?

Im certain that my 57 has the original front lenses...and they are plastic.
The rear lenses are plastic with the bottom section being glass.

The first version of front turn signal lens (up to the change to the second version in early October 1958) were all plastic. The second version was made of glass and a completely different design.
North American cars received clear lenses, as did many other lands, during the "Lowlight" era. Some countries required the clear lenses to be retrofitted to amber at a later date, so if a car has amber lenses now, it might not have had them when new. |

I have a set NOS glass front turn signal lenses
They are marked with Hella, VW, K12623 A in a circle 2294 and I.G.M. 06221I4.. A lot for such a small lens
They have exactly the same shape as the BL-Po 330 lens and I think they are both ofr 58-59 cars.

Just a note:
The glass lens ghiaddict and pbaptist show are for the karmann ghias 1958 1/2 thru 1963.
The plastic lens karosserie refers to are a different design and for the earlier cars 1956 - 1958 like Dave mentioned (retrowagen).
