Have you ever seen a VW with an ON/OFF switch in the engine bay for cranking power?
I bought a project and was told the toggle switch near the front drivers seat and the on/off switch in the engine bay hooked to a 12 volt battery are for making more cranking power to the engine?

I am assuming when the engine starts you must have to turn off the switch?
I will take some pics later to show what I mean it is a regular house ON/off switch.

 =; Please, spare us the pics.

Get that crap OUT of there. The "right" way to do that is with a "hard start relay" kit, but even that is a HACK. A well maintained stock Beetle will start just fine; otherwise they wouldn't have been able to sell twenty one million of them.

If you put the switch to the OFF position it cranks the engine over with no key LOL.
I have to post pics just so people can have a good laugh.

It could have been someone's way to crank the engine over while working on it - for like compression tests.

I have one of those remote start push button things you just clip on. It seems pretty odd to mount a switch for that purpose.

I kinda like it. Sure it's a "hack", but it looks period correct and the switch has sort of an "industrial flare" to it. :P
