Is it just me or does the seach feature not work very well?
I will type in a word I know I used with me as the poster and it wont come up.
If you search via profile you can find more posts of people as opposed to just searching their names also.
Weird stuff. |

| I've noticed that too, I'll try to search for a post I remember making but it seems like a lot of keywords won't work. I was suspecting it had to do with the sheer number of posts and text needing to be searched. |

The default for the search screen is to search the technical areas only so that could explain the lower number of searches results vs. clicking the link in your profile.
There are common words that are automatically excluding from a search like bug, bus, etc. as those would return a zillion results. This can confuse things sometimes.
If there is a particular thing that you are searching on and it won't find it, let me know. |

| can you expand it beyond the tech areas or is it like that for a certain reason? |

Yes, you just change the drop-down box on the search screen.
It defaults to the tech. forums to limit the scope. It applied more when we had the Rants. |

jmsmilin--
I just put together an additional list of things that could also cause the problems you're seeing, and added it to the "How to search" sticky. |
