Hi Folks. I am working on a 67 chassis for a Manx clone and have a question about the pedal assembly. I know there are 2 bolts that go through the assembly into the tunnel but there also a bolt that goes through the floor pan I guess to hold the throttle stop in place. My question is when I pulled the bug apart there was a square plate that the bolt for the throttle stop went through on the bottom of the pan. Is this correct or should the bolt just come through the pan? The hole for the bolt seems out of round. Thanks you so much in advance.

The square plate and bolt is your stop for the clutch pedal on a stock setup. Without the plate, or a replacement type of some sort, your pedal will just fall backwards and become disconnected from the clutch cable. Off the top of my head, I think it also acts as a stop for the brake pedal as well, giving you the angle and same distance as the clutch pedal.

The small square plate should have a raised lip on one edge which "stops" against the tab on the bottom of the brake and clutch pedals. The hole is elongated for fore and aft adjustment of the brake and clutch pedals.

Thanks you guys. I think maybe I have not explained it well enough. There is a 3"x5" square plate under the pan that the bolt goes through to the pedal stop you guys are talking about. I was wondering if this large plate is supposed to be there or is this some sort of fix for the out of round hole in the floor pan. So I guess my question is should only the bolt be coming up from the floor pan or is this large plate that the bolt is going through correct. Thanks again for all the help.

Originally there was a nut welded on the bottom of the pan. It sounds like the nut has broken out of the pan leaving a big hole.

Not to hijack the thread but this is on the same topic. The two bolts that hold the pedal assembly, does anyone know what size they are? I am rebuilding a buggy and replaced the frame. The old frame was so rotted that both bolts snapped off and I threw them out. . The new frame did not come with them. Since no catalog has them, I assume that they are just a standard size but, what are they? I do not want to buy a bunch and jam the wrong size in. Thanks for your help.
