will it fit, i think it will, going on a 64 baja 3inch body lift, BJ front end, swing arm rear.

dune_dude Fri Aug 29, 2008 8:14 am

It should fit with the 3" lift. I had a 68 that I had 30x9.5x15's and they fit.

Not sure about the swing axle, but I'm currently running 31/10.50-15's on all 4 on a ball joint front end w/ IRS rear. No body lift, but I've cut and turned the front 3/8" and raised the rear 2 inner splines.

will definitely fit, i have the same set up. :D

My fronts are 15" x 6", the rears are 15" x 8". The rears were tough to mount, the fronts went on easy. I'd go with 7".

Could it be tie rod ends you're seeing with the ripped boots?

vwb5t Sat Aug 30, 2008 7:39 am

no there the lower ball joint boots.

Sounds like your pan may have been swapped for a newer one. If you look inside the car, just in front of the cover plate for the shifter linkage under the back seat, the VIN of the pan should be stamped there. Compare that to the body VIN, they're most likely different.

vwb5t Sat Aug 30, 2008 8:33 am

wheres the body vin located?

neanders Sat Aug 30, 2008 8:59 am

Pull up the back seat bottom, and just forward of the shift linkage adjustment opening. It's stamped on the pan.

Either on a plate just inside the windshield, or located in the spare tire area under the hood.

That's for the pan, he needs to check the body also. I think he has a '64 body on a later pan.

CopperBaja Sat Aug 30, 2008 10:58 am

The title is on the pan, not the body. If his title says 64, that should be from the pan VIN.

Wonder how hard it is to do a linkpin to balljoint swap? ;)

Nicksan Sat Aug 30, 2008 11:54 am

Lets see some pics of these cars with wide front tires.
:?

CopperBaja Sat Aug 30, 2008 12:24 pm

30s on the rear & turned 2 splines.

The fronts are 205s on a 14" rim, with a Thing beam.

oh...and a body lift. 8)

vwb5t Sat Aug 30, 2008 7:03 pm

ok i will look at the VIN's and check, coincidentally i got a letter from my insurance today that says there a problem with the VIN on the car not being right. sounds like i have a newer pan and an older body. i will take a look and see what i get, the ball joint front appears to be stock nothing looks weird, well except that im stuck with all this EMPI crap on the car, the guy who built the car loved there stuff. oh well the cars in really good shape just needs minor work no rot and barely any surface rust spots.

vwb5t Sun Aug 31, 2008 2:14 pm

alright I've done some searching online and looking in the bug, looks like i have a 66 pan and a 64 body.
