Got a rear kit with e-brake but no instructions! Anyone got an exploded view on how they go together or a walkthrough? I can't even figure out how to get the brake pads in!

| I am installing the AC Industries Rear Disc Brake kit with E-Brake. Looks the same as the above thread. My problem is that I can not get the E-Brake cable assembly installed as it interferes with the top mounting bolt. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Howard |

OK I got back out there this AM and removed the larger/thicker washer and just used the wavy washer which provided just enough clearance to get the E-Brake cable in.
Then I find out that the E-Clip will not fit because the casting boss is .020" too thick. So take it back apart and off to grind down the boss enough to get the E-Clip on. Check the other rear caliper and guess what the same problem there as well.
The AC kit did not come with flex lines for the rear and state to re-bend the original hard lines. This make no sense for a floating caliper and the hard lines are not long enough anyway. So I am now stuck with going out to try and find correct parts to do the job right.
I am afraid to start on the fronts as I thought the rears would be a piece of cake.
Why can we not get parts that are well engineered and properly made? Why should I have to guess at assembly and get the grinder out to make things fit? Be forced to go out and find parts that should have come with the kit?
If I did this to my customers I would be out of business.
Speaking along those lines I would not buy another AC Industries product. I almost put everything back in the boxes, but like everyone else just decided to live with it.
So yes I am part of the continuing problem of just putting up with poor design and quality.
I can now drive around wondering if something else will just fail in the future. Great! |
