I have been browsing this site and was just wondering how many people from Florida are on hear. I hope to build a baja some day but at the moment finding a potential vw to use is slim pickings up hear. I would like to meat some fellow Florida peeps for when I do so I can pick there brains..........lol

Im actually south of Tampa in a small town called Dade City . I dont see many vw owners around hear mostly muscle cars and such but Sun Ray Bugs is like 5 minutes from my house . I would like to get a vw baga or something that can be converted into one that is pretty solid and runs but its slim pickings around hear . I tried emailing Sun Ray bugs to see what they had but there email must not work . I would stop in and ask but he seemed anoid by me last time I was there.

Bug Jam will be at the fair grounds in Dade City sunday november 9th. I'm sure you could pick somethng up there for your build.

Hey Shawn, I replied to your email this morning (Ben may also have replied). We re-started the Tampa Bay Buggy Club as a group of people in Central Florida who love to ride off-road in our bajas and buggies. Ben has a baja if you'd like to get some ideas from him.

You should definitely go to Bug Jam. Lots of good deals there, and you'll get to meet people like us who will help you build your baja.

Keep an eye out for our update emails because we always post up our events.

BTW, I'm in Odessa in Pasco, and Ben is in Wesley Chapel, so you aren't far from us at all.

Keep an eye on Craigslist, they have separate listings for Tampa, Orlando, Space Coast, Ocala/Gainesville, etc.
I've seen a few rail buggys for sale lately, not very many fiberglas though.

Kissimmee here. Born n raised. Just moved to Charlotte NC. Man I miss Florida. I still own a house in Saint Cloud. Old Town has a Cruise in every weekend and has some good turn outs with the VW crowd. During the summer they get around 2-4 hundred cars out there. Mostly Rods but some great VW people. I bought my Euro 67 from a guy there.
