| I'm being given a set set of vintage slotted mags and tires but their off a ford van.Their 5 lug 5 in. I've found plenty of 5 wide to Chevy 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 . Does anyone make a 5 wide to a Ford 5 lug 5 inch? |

I know they used to make wide-5 to 5x5" adapters. I have an old JC Whitney catalog from 1973 that shows them for sale.
I don't see anyone selling a new 5x5" adapter when I searched online just now though. I'd look at theSamba Classifieds and eBay. Ask some of the sellers that don't list the size to measure what they have.
Here's a link to a search:

Or maybe put a Wanting To Buy ad up in the Classifieds.
The Whitney ad I mentioned, I put a full page scan that that listing is on, in the Gallery:

But I just scanned the part that listed the one you are wanting, they did exist at some point. You just have to find some now.

| Best bet maybe to buy the commonly available stamped steel type of adapter and get a machine shop to re-drill for the wider stud pattern between the original stud holes re-using the supplied studs. |

Early Ford vans (Econolines) are 5 holes on a 4 1/2" bolt circle.
The pickups & late "60s & newer" vans have a 5 lug on a 5 1/2" bolt circle. |

| Ah, so that's why no Fords are listed in that 5" ad I posted above then. (Lincold/Mercury are though) |

I'm trying to find the link to a place that still manufactures custom adapters that carries 4x100 to both ford patterns. Something that can also be done is to make the rims UNILUG rims where the lug holes are slotted. I have two sets of aluninum slots, all unilug from 4.5" to 5.5" spacing I believe it is. I know mine have been on GM, Ford and Mopar cars and now on my bug and buggy. |

| I have a set of the aluminum slots with the unilug pattern. The previous owner of the Glitterbug that I bought was using lug bolts of different designs and none of them had offset washers. Can you still buy the offset washers (I have never seen what they look like)? He was using no washers and it didn't look safe. Some of the lug bolts had been torqued down hard and had wallered the hole in the wheel. I would like to restore these wheels for my project, and was waiting to post this question at a later date but this looks like the time. Brent |
