I laugh when I see others asking this....... and now I'm doing it. I just finished my 2276 build but its too hot to go to the drags here in Arizona. I have however taken my unregistered Fat Chick up the street and holy cow does it have power now.
The question is: What do you think the horse power is and what Quarter mile times should I expect. I'm not a pro but I look forward to whipping some mustangs etc

| Thanks.........you must have used some kind of calculator. I'm using the electric cooling fans but I still need to get one of those small alternators. The fastest this car has gone was 14.1 with a 2054cc engine, so 12s should be quite a rush. Thanks |

No, I just made a meaningless wild assed guess with no reasoning or calculations involved.
There are way too many variables involved for anybody to give you an accurate prediction. |

| I was just hoping to share my excitement with like minded people......you know someone who may have the same or simular set up who says theirs is such and such horse power and such and such quarter mile time. Sorry to have waisted your time with my obviously stupid questions. |

If you're looking for comparisons, my 2332 cc, 44 x 37, FK8, 10.5:1 CR, 1 3/4" header, IDA's has 169.2 HP at the wheels (probably 185+ at flywheel?), 165 ft-lb torque, with a best of 13.1 seconds at 101 MPH at 3,300 ft. elevation (probably 12's at sea level?).
PS there are no stupid questions, keep asking :) |

My response was an honest answer. I think it will run high 12's in the 1/4. However without all the facts, gear ratio's, head flow, suspension set-up and many other needed facts, I am only guessing.
Humidity, tempature, altitude, and barametric pressure all have a big effect on ET. |

| My appologies Dave...........I didn't read your reply as an 'honest' well meant answer. |

Your first response was sarcastic. This response was honest. |

| Thanks for the honest responses. My super is pretty well stripped down, only the driver's seat, no carpet or head liner, very small fuel cell. Excitedd to see what it'll do at the drags but its so damn hot here......... at least for a few more weeks. |

My car weighs about 1780 with my fat butt in it.
The 2276 made 163 hp at the wheels, with the belt and muffler.
I ran 12.79@ 104 in three gears with MT street radials, no belt.
As a side note that motor is for sale in the classifieds. |

Probably what im going to say is ot always right (newbe here) but...
Did you get it to the dyno to set up before you race it? i think that it have had all those ponnies in the dino but something could have change between the dyno and the track(setting and other variable factors).
I have heard about beetles around 165hp are around 13 in 1/4´s but tranny is the key factor for it.
What gearing do you have in the tranny, i always say a good tranny can do marvelous things in a good motor, if yóur tranny is not geared right it will be slower. |

True, a close ratio transaxle is worth about 5ths over a stock gearing.
165 RWHP will go 12's with a stock gear box and traction, i did it. :D
On the other hand a 165 hp at the flywheel is morethan likely in the low to mid 13's

might i add, close-ratio tranny's are COOL for strip/street, but SUCK on the freeway/highway.
4k at 75mph it seems. 3.5k at 65. |
