I'm not exactly a Ghia guy, but when told about any VW in an abandoned shed, I'm on it. Found a 70 signal orange KG and while looking around the shed found a roofrack for it. It has no markings but does not appear to be homemade. There are too many things that indicate it's a production piece from somewhere. Anybody got any ideas? The front crossbar is bent a little but will be straightened when I get around to it.
The Ghia... well, it's almost complete but has been sitting for a very long time. Sometime in the past, somebody used the LF fender to test their cutting torch skills. Interior is complete, engine (minus intake and carb) is there, and it even has the board pieces in the trunk. Hopefully I'll be getting it soon and the plan is to evaluate whether or not it can be restored. If not, I'll load up the classifieds and scrap the rest. Thanks. |

| Anything can be restored. Post up pics here so that some more seasoned people can evaluate it. |

Pics coming whenever I get back by there. The car is mine for the taking (free) so I'm not exactly in a hurry. The shed it's in was found on the property of a new apartment complex a friend manages. She said when the apartments are finished, they'll tear down the shed before people move in. I have plenty of time.
Anybody ever seen a roofrack like this one before? I'd love to know who made it. Obviously I have no need for it (won't fit my bus) and it'll get sold eventually. I don't want to overprice this thing, but I don't want to get robbed either. Thanks. |

| Also, I'm not saying the Ghia is unrestorable. Not yet at least. I personally have restored more than a couple of beetles in worse shape. Problem is that my experience with Ghias is limited and I already have a project on my plate. If indeed this car doesn't need much at all, I have no problems with turning it into a safe, non-OG driver and selling it (Are you a flipper if it was free?) to help fund my bus project. |
