I've got my Ghia registered, so now I'm driving it! I'm going to be replacing the mirrors, sun visors, wiper button, turn signal, and working on the horn, radio/speaker, clock, heater box, and air intake. The air intake needs a hose replaced (the one that draws hot air from the exhaust manifold; does anyone know where is the easiest place to get that length of hose)? Also, can anyone tell me if the turn signal is supposed to click into place and stay until the turn is completed, or do you just hold it there? Because if you just hold it there, I only need to find a replacement for the plastic lever part, and not the whole assembly. Oh, and I will be replacing the wiper blades, but that's easy. :D
So, that's the update.
Oh, and body work. I plan to replace the rocker panels, and sections around the headlights at some point. And perhaps the exhaust system to...oh, and there are the seals!
But for now at least it runs. ;) |

| the lever stays until the steering wheel returns to center to cancel it. the switch assy. is not that hard to replace and they usually run less than $40. you should always list the year of your ghia when asking questions. a new switch for an old car will probably have an extra wire or two. look up thread for how to. |

Hey, another question. I need to replace the carburetor preheat hose (sucks warm air from the engine to the air cleaner). Where is a good place to get this length of hose?
Thanks. |

CIP1. Get the German stuff:

Also, make sure you have all of the bits for connections and the seals. CIP1 has it all as well. |

Are you sure that's the carburetor preheat hose? It looks like the heater hose.
Anyways, I think my solenoid has been giving me trouble, as described somewhere in pages 50-60 of John Muir's book. It doesn't happen all the time, though, and if we push-start it, it will usually start afterwards... |

| If he is looking for the pre-heat pipe, the yes that would not be correct. |

| I'm just going to get one from Napa. BTW, I took it on a good-sized road trip, and it did well, other than the solenoid acting up. |

Ok.
I think this is what he wants:

I use the heater hose on mine as it keeps it all the same color. I don't really like the look of the aluminum.
The intake manifold pre-heat pipe is shown in this photo:

The carb pre-heat hose should be available at your local FLAPS. |

| It should be about 1 1/8" diameter. |

I found it from JCWhitney for $2.99. :)
Oh, snap! In my haste late at night, I didn't realize it was 1.9 inches as opposed to 1 1/8 that I needed! I thought "1.9, that's close enough to 1.8", but it was 1 1/8 that I needed. |
