I recently purchased a sand rail project. So far a headache I enjoy. :D
i am not getting fuel through the main fuel tube but i am through the accelarator pump. the engine starts right up after pumping the accelerator a few times but wont stay running due to no gas.
it is a 1300 with a solex 31 i believe. i am up for any positive suggestions at this point the the selonoid is working.
let me know what i can do thanks in advance. |

are you talking about the fuel line that leads from the pump to the bowl? |

| I would recommend that you clean out your pilot/idle jet and blast a bit of compressed air through all of your passages. If the Accelerator Pump is working and it won't idle then it is either a plugged pilot/idle jet or some other debris that has got its self stuck in a passage. |

i didnt think the accelerator pump kept it running though
i thought i was the main fuel tube that did that? |

| The accelerator pump does not keep it running the idle circuit does. You can keep an engine running by blipping the throttle which causes the accelerator pump to squirt in an bit of gas. When you take your foot off of the peddle it will be running on the idle circuit. If it dies on idle and your carb is adjusted correctly the issue is usually dirt in the idle jet or circuit. |

| i think i could have found the problem could the dirt in the gas tank be making it to the carb even with an in line filter. i keep having to clean the carb and i have changed a fuel filter already just from messing with it. |

| Take this for what it is worth but for $30-40 you could have a new carb on that thing. |

i thought the same thing but i have had this issue with three carbs now two that came with the engine and one i had before 2 of the three carbs had worked before.
i was plaing with it and wondering if a vacum leak could cause fuel not to come out? |

| A vacuum leak will certainly effect idle. |
