can't speak for any of his other cars i only looked at this one. this was his ad here on the samba and i quote.

72 Squareback nicknamed the "ratback".Rat rod custom bare bones no sissiy stuff like carpet,headliner who needs it :).He does however have a fresh motor and runs out great.Grafted on cbr 1000 exhaust gives it a odd sound but neat.Daily driver no issues known fly in drive it home.Will do some tradin but gotta be pre 79 veedub and aircooled only unless you gotta neat caddy truck ill take those.Floor pans are solid I know because there is no carpet so you see them well really rust is to a minimum all over solid car.

I spoke with him over the phone about trading my volksrod. I stated quite a few times that i was trading my daily driver was his car daily capable. He said very. I told him i was driving up from athens ga a 4 hour trip would the car make it back. he of course said yes. look at the ad fly in drive back. yeah right.

drove the 4 hours there. while inspecting the car the floorpans are shot out just you can see where the por15 was put over the rust. homemade patch panels were on the passenger side and even they were rusting through. the rear bumber was only held in place by one bolt. the mounting locations were completly rusted through. the windshiled had a huge crack covering 40% of the windshield. the running lights and brake lights didn't work. (how am i supposed to drive back to ga @ night with no rear lights) puddles of water were pooled up inside the car. the front seats wouldn't fold so you couldn't get to the back seat. the back seat wouldn't fold down. brake fluid was low in the resevoir. telling me the brake system was leaking somewhere. tonnes wrong with this car that makes not available for "fly in drive home"

I told him sorry to waste your time and mine i can't go through with this trade and started telling him why and he got very beligerant towards me yelling at me about picking his car apart like it's a "show car". went on to say i was trading a rusty piece of sh*t . no i just wanted to make sure that what i was getting was similar condition to what i was trading. all the electrics work very well on my car, i have only two rust spots(and i was honest enough to point them out to him.)

upon leaving i forgot my camera at his "dealership" went back to get it. tried to shake his hand and say sorry this didn't work out maybe we can do business at some future time. his response was "i don't think so"

when we left i stopped at the local advance and the local autozone to see if they had dealings with him. people @ both stores told me that he was and i quote a "shady" character.

seems to me he is either completly ignorant about cars and didn't see all the things wrong with this car(highly unlikely but possible) or he is trying to scam people.
