| hey guys newbie here. just thought i would shout that out and let it be known. haha. i have been wanting to get or build a baja for awhile now but just can seem to get enough money to ever start it. but i ran into this thought today, would it be better to buy a bug and create a baja out of it.? or build one up from scratch out of a tube frame and just put a bug body on it? when i am in a position to start the project im planning alot of modifications to it. a V6 engine, coilovers on all 4 corners, roll cage, things like that. im not new to fabrication ive built my share of jeeps and rockcrawlers but im unsure of where to to start on this. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks everyone. |

This one has been tossed around a bit. If cost is your main concern, then buy someones unfinished project. Here's some views:

Since you already have experience I would recommend buying a plain bug and converting it, and you dont want someones half assed nightmare you have to fix and figure out what was done.
First thing is to simply install a baja kit. From what you described is sounds like you want to get seriously into it.

| You mentioned not having enough money to get started. If your cash flow future does not foresee a dramatic increase, I would suggest that you look for a baja that is already built, but needs some repairs. Perhaps you can find a deal on one that needs some TLC. |

| haha well in that case lotrat..... lol. ok thanks guys. ok now ive read all i can find on why you shouldnt turn a super into a baja, but if im going to end up putting a full tube frame in it anyway, are the struts really going to be that big of a problem?? |
