I drove a '71 Beetle that belonged to my grandfather, then I bought a '68 later in HS. I just recently inherited the '71 and my grandmother's '68!!!

Here is a old scanned pic from 1980, my 1st car--- a '69 Dodge Charger--383 w/ 727 TF tranny, 400 heads & 4bbl, and my 1st VW -A 1959 Singlecab Truck, bought 2 years after High school,......... I had the need for speed in the '70's 8)

Which ones worth more today ??????? :lol: :lol:

Bought the '69 bug from my dad for $1 when I was 12.He bought it brand new Sept 28,1968.
Then we restored it/ cal-looked it together. drove it though H.S. until I got my bus rolling.
Bug sits in the garage waiting on me to get of my ass and out it back to Orig.

1971 Super beetle Auto stick in the winter. 1966 Mustang GT in the summer. Still own the mustang. SB is long gone, actually sitting in some guys field now.

I drove a POS 84 buick 2 door sky hawk then a 95 ford escort in highschool the closest I got to riding in a vw was my friends 69 standard bug with a 2200cc dual webber

A 71 Super Beetle, was told I would be getting it within a week, waited 5 weeks before it arrived. I remember every day pulling onto my street hoping to see it, then one day it was there. Five weeks in High School seamed like an eternity.

My favorite memory was getting to leave school early one day because it started snowing, then ridding down the road with the sun roof open sticking my hand up as the snow blew thru.

My first ride in high school was a 62 Impala SS, Junior year 1988 my Dad brought back a 59 Bug from Yonkers New York $200.00 bucks and drove it back to Ohio. We restored it top to bottom (wish I still had the pic's) kept it until 2002. Regretfully sold it. I have owned more than 20 VW's since. (most of them were a POS) Now we (My 2 boys and myself) are working on a crusty 61 former race car..UHG!! but its fun for all of us.

I had a 1967 Karmann Ghia coupe from 1975-1977. I paid $100. She was in awful shape for being only 8 years old at the time. Totally rusted and abused. I abused her even more. That car made a lifelong impression on me and I have never been without a Ghia since then.

The first car i ever bought was a 68' Bug in 1998 for around 800$, it was a an "ok" looking bug :? had some dents, faded paint, a birds nest of some "homemade" wiring harness that was scary! but it was pretty solid bug, no rust to speak of. i was a sophmore in highschool.when i brought it home i started on her... fixed the harness, got an old used street stinger from a friend,put on a 009, splined out the rear, and ordered some dropped spindles,cheap little stuff,not having a job and all yet. :? it lasted all through highschool with no major problems at all :D till i traded it for a 65' bug.

I built a Meyers Manx buggy on a 65 pan the summer of 1970. It was my first car and I drove it to school my jr. and sr. years of highschool. I drove it to work today too. :D

A few more months until I get my permit, but then my bus will officially be my Highschool car. at the moment I can't actually drive her, haha.

Its freaking awesome that my dream car is my first car...

Then again, I didn't exactly set the bar too high, haha.

A '67 Squareback. The very first one I built, but obviously not 100% correct as I had '68 fenders and doors.

I had a '73 Squareback from Jonior year high school, college, and for year after that.
I got it from my sister in '76 and drove it until June '83.
I traded it & and a '67 Baja Bug for a '82 Rabbit 2 door.
