Hello!
Volkswagen enthusiast in the Philadelphia area seeks mentor for mechanical experience with aircooled volkswagens.
Single parent too busy with family responsibilies for the past couple years to indulge in my passion for vdubs has recently acquired a 76 bus.
I've forgotten alot I've learned from my vw days although I still remember quite a bit.
Would really appreciate someone to share some time and advice or a possible apprenticeship. Looking for a laidback arrangement that is positive and flexible for both parties.
Willing to help or barter services in exchange for wisdom, tech advice and mild veedub support. I'm a half-decent wrench, easy to get along with and a quick learner. Please email me if you are or know anyone who is willing to spend a little extra time to help me learn.
I have transportation and tools.
Thanks and have a great day!

Rochelle

Sounds kinda' like some Match Maker add. Can you cook? O' wait, where is the picture of your bus?

I'd respond except that you are on the very far opposite corner of this big country.

Hello Rochelle,
I live in Philly near Chestnuthill. I have found the big blue workshop manual invaluable. The Muir book is also a good resource. I do my own tune ups and simple maintenance. I am no master mechanic and don't really aspire to be one. I have found that right here on the "Samba" some of the best mechanical tips are available. Philly right now does not have an air cooled VW club. (I'm interested if others are) Your bus is 32 years old and unless it has been well taken care of it will have more than a few problems. Please let me know if you need help. I am unfamiliar with the fuel injection on the latter bays and I leave sheet metal work to experts. but I'm sure I can help set up the jack stands and walk you through the simple stuff. Best of luck with your Bus. Bill
