Which is the best option?

I have a left door with dents in the skin and small rust in the bottom lip of the door it also has a hole cut out around the door handle (not sure why).

Am I better off getting a new door or are skins okay? Actually, I am not sure they even make them. If they don't is it better to tap out the dent. I am leaning toward a new door. Let me know what you think.

Dents on the side skin only.

I don't think they make skins for a Karmann Ghia door.

So can you fix this or new door?

Anything is repairable provided you have the time, money, and (access to the necessary) skill.

Maybe they don't but HOG has door skins in their catalog.

It's a later door so it's not entirely rare and since you were asking I'll assume you are either not experienced with metal working or at least have not done much and with the rust perforations along the bottom... - replace it gets my vote.
BTW, none of this is meant as a critque of you or your skill and it's not derrogatory in any way... it's just THAT location of the damage is going to be difficult for even an experienced metal working, body person and that assumes all the tools are present - dent pullers, hammer/dollies and such..
You will be happier with the results, it'll likely be faster and less head-ache to simply swap it out with a doner door...
Just remember to spray liberal amounts of PB oil or whatever on those hinge screws for a week before you attempt to remove them so you don't end up cussing at me for the suggestion "wah wah wah replace the door...it'll be easier... he says... frikken dooood knew these hinge screws were gunna be frikken rusted solid and strip-out.... Grrrrrr! "

Replace it Sam. Its not like you are taking that Ghia back to OG condition.

I have 2 extra doors for a 71 and I am local (assuming your location is accurate). Send me PM if you are interested and I can send you some pictures. I bought with same intent. I haven't looked at them in over a year so I can remember the shape, but good as I recall.

I'm not sure if the doors are the same, but I think the glass is not. maybe someone else knows for sure.

You are both right. The doors are the same, but the glass is different.
