| Im fixing a 71 beetle for my brothers girlfriend and im kinda stumped on a few things, 1 it will idle fine and drive fine but as soo as driven down hill it dies and it seems like its not getting enough fuel on hard acceleration. Put new fuel pump in and same problem. And 2nd the clutch pedel pulsates pretty hard when driving under acceleration but at a cruise its not noticeable. Also seems like the pulses are in sync with the front end bob's up and down? Been tinkering all day on this thing and its nothing like my chevelle. Any help is appreciated. |

Check the fuel pressure (2-3psi) and the fuel level in the bowl. If the fuel level is too high, it will overflow the bowl and flood the carb/engine.

Check if the bowden tube above the transmission has enough "bend" in it. Too little bend and the clutch cable will end up pulling on the TO bearing arm as the transmission flexes.
Check your clutch free play adjustment as well. |
