Ok peeps.... I finally got my 69 Baja sold and shipped off to Kansas... and the new owner is tickled pink....

Now in time for Fall here in "Cheeseheadland," I am searching and near purchase of my first buggy....

Of all the posts of late on the forum one struck me the other day when I re-read it....

Mounted my new 15x7.00 Nanco tires on my stock 50's 15x4.5 VW rims. Once I get the clips, I'll be running stock hubcaps as well. 15" of ground clearance under the beam, but I'll trim that a few with limiting straps. Steering column is next.

I absolutely love the look of this setup... and went out on the net looking for Nanco tires or dealers near me.... and I was disturbed to see SO many people bashing this tire as crappy....

So my question is this.... anyone else know of a nice tire that has this same profile and look from another company?

Give me a shout here in post... would love to hear your opinions.

thank you for your time,

Cujo

Here's a more recent picture. I have yet to run on these tires, as the car is still under construction, but I do see them on dozens of pictures of offroad racers and buggies. Perhaps they don't last, not really sure what the criticisms are. Just moving the car around the shop, I like the fact that the steering effort is minimal, due to the narrow cross section. Guess I'll find out in the spring.

What are the sizes F and R? Can you tell me the rim sizes (widths) and offset. Great Look!!! Is that a standard width front end?

Nice looking buggy so far. I really like the looks of those front tires what brand were they again. Look very familiar with what my junkyard find had on it when I got it. Thanks for any information that you are able to provide.

Yokohama makes a tire very similar to that. http://www.vwparts.net/YOK720.html But, $200 each for a tire that size is pretty ridiculous. That same site has Nanking Traction tires in the same size that are also similar for $90 each. These look to be the same as the STA Super Traxion tires, which one of the guys in the Thing forum has and says he likes.

Seems like a widely copied tread design, so it shouldn't be too hard to find something similar.
