View original topic: How does a top boot hold on?

I've just taken delivery of a new "top boot" for my '69 convertible.
It came with a fixing kit but no instruction as to where some of it goes.
I've worked out the stud fasteners, but I've also got two fittings as pictured below (sorry its a bit blurry)

but before I cut holes on my new boot/cover I want to check where they go. Do they fit over these hooks located on the hood frame?

I'd appreciate any help
Thanks

Those hooks are for "coat hooks" when top is up.
Snaps are the usual method of holding the top boot on.

I've got a NOS top boot with the original fastners. It also contains two of the same fittings (in addition to the snaps) that you describe in your photo. I also have the two matching chrome stud pieces that swivel when you insert through the ring to lock it in place

I have no idea where the go on the car either, but would love to know.

Those chrome rings go on the boot to hold it down with the plastic hook that's on the hinge covers.

Here is a pic from a 1969 owners manual take a look at picture "E". Thanks, Jason Hamilton.

If you are missing the two hooks, House of Ghia carries a total duplicate of the original.

My top boot came from KGP&R also with no instructions and those rings. I always wondered what they were for.

I don't think its needed. I tuck mine behind the seat and it doesn't go anywhere.

Of course they are probably useful if you have the top and seat down. I will have to try it.

That's great guys, there's always someone with the right answer here.
Cheers Jason, thanks for the info.
