What is the thin black strip on late model bumpers made of? It's not the thick rubber impact strip, but a really thin black struip down the center about the size of electrical tape, only stiffer.

Does anyone reproduce this?

I recently restored my 72' Coupe and had come across the same problem. I bought two boxes of Rubber Mastic Tape (1 in) one box for each bumper. The tape fit perfectly in the grove on each bumper and looks original. The tape sticks nicely to the bumpers and I have had it on through rain and snow with no problems.

Good Luck,

Where did you get it? What is the brand info?

I used electrical tape.

How'd that work? How about a picture? How long ago did you put it on, and how well is it still sticking?

I put it on about the end of August. Still holding up. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

This picture I took is too large to load. Here's a link to my rebuild that has the picture of the front bumper strip.
