I just got my new rear tires. I dropped from 31/10.50-15's to 30/10.50-15's to gain a little clearance between the tread and torsion housing.
I picked up about 1/8" or so, now have enough to fit my fingers between them.
My measuring was just about right on the money. I gained about 1/8" or slightly more clearance between the tread and the torsion housing by dropping from 31's to 30'.s
I had to go grab some quick poser pics, the real test will be either Saturday or Sunday.
The trunk of my '68 Nova is too small to fit 2 of the tires, much less hauling the old ones back home too. I had to get my "truck" out for this.

It was either that or the '94 Ford E350 bus. Hard to justify that for picking up tires from 3 blocks away. |

The tires are Super Swamper TSL Radials. Made by Interco, they're great for mud or rocks. |

You'd be surprised what I've done with the sidecar. I wouldn't hesitate to take it out on the highway with that load, if needed. |
