View original topic: I need help with Porsche 901 transaxle flanges!!!

I bought a used 901 5-speed transaxle to put in my VW-based kit car. The flanges that came with the transaxle are not CV joints but some type of u-joint x-arm. Below are some pictures of the flanges and the axles.

The only options I can come up with to make this work in my car are:
1) replace the flanges with Porsche CV flanges (anyone know a good used/cheap source)
2) machine an adapter to interface from these 4-bolt flanges to the VW 6 bolt CV joint, or
3) machine away the flange to leave only the flange stub and weld the original VW flanges like those below.

What do you think I should do?

Those are Nadella axles and flanges used in very early 911-912s. These were the only type that were compatible with factory installed ZF limited slip differentials for those years. I dont think anyone rebuilds them anymore and they may have some value to folks who need them. CV style flanges are interchangable on transmissions with standard diffs.
