alright i am very uneducated about what would be the best motor for a long offroad trip. the plan is pritty much a month long trip of about 5 hours a day driving on and off road. im not looking for the most powerful motor ever made but im looking for a motor that can handle a lot use with minimal maintenance and still providing good power. also what are good things to do to prep motors for offroad/desert use. im open to suggestions, turnkey companies that make good motors, any help is appreciated
thanks in advance

| Ej20,B16,22re,b18,Slant 6 225 are all very reliable engines. If you want VW then go with a stock 1600 dual port.Have it built by Major's and run it. |

| I have a brand new 2110cc that was built for power and reliability, I spent $4200 to get it built with all the best quality parts, I have the invoice with builders name and all specs of the engine. I want to trade it for a super built 091 or get atleast $3700 for it. It's brandnew and it's a turn key with stinger exhaust. |

i just remembered, i know a guy who i think still has a crazy built bus trans with a FAT T4 race engine paired up to it for sale, has like 8 hours of run time on it. he wanted kind of alot but it was still like half price of what FAT would charge for that
i think he was thinking about $6500 last i talked to him, i can call him and ask if he would consider shipping. |

I've hear complaints about it being alot of $$ to convert them to sandrails. Opposed to the thousands of beetles sitting around. I've seen corvairs pretty cheap, too, just not as much aftermarket parts or readily available info.

| vw 1776 or 1915, ungraded from the 1600 but still has the thicker cylinders with a peppy cam. single carb so you dont have to worry about syncing along the way. points and condensor are easier to fix than electronics. add a oil cooler and filter to help prolong engine life and cooling. vw parts would be easier to find along the road than corvair and the vw engine is lighter if you have to pull it to replace the clutch. |
