i found a 67 beetle for a great deal that has already been baja'd but im stuck on IRS, is the swing axle to IRS swap really as easy as it looks? i read and reread the swap on blind chicken and it looks pretty straight forward, but ive learned just cause it looks easy doesnt mean it is. has anyone done the swap and can atest to its worthiness?
and on a side note, to the people that have built your own roll cages is there any particular bend radius that works best?? or minimum radius for racing? |

Run it as is for a while. I did the swap when I switched to a bus transaxle in my rail, and the biggest thing I got out of it was the experience. For playing around in the sand, the old swinger was fine.
It's not hard to do, but hard to do correctly. Even with a jig, the inner pivots are kinda monked up. Plus I lost the ability to run cool looking 5 lug wheels. |
