I was sitting with my cousin.... who's american & she's into retro cars like myself & said I should name my car ... it's harder than naming your own baby! So i thought i could get ideas here :D

PS: Squarebacks are definitely females!

Heidi. I call it. No one else shall name their square Heidi.

My 71 is 'Mark Pfennig'
-or 'Bronco' after the Broncos Football team; who, like my Square, wear Orange and Powder Blue - Real 'Tough Guy' colors.

I call my 65 'The Money Pit', as well.
I, too often, call it 'in the way'
But I affectionately call it, 'Cricket'

I haven't named my 68 yet.

interesting observation. most cars let you know after a while what gender they are. i will find myself referring to it as "he" or "she" without thinking about it, and then you know.

i'm still waiting for my Ghia to announce. my daily driver is a PT Cruiser convertible, and that's a chick. her name is Gert. oddly enough, my Jeep is also female, but butch.

i tried out "Three-ah" for the Type 34, but it didn't stick. i've referred to it as "she" but it doesn't come out right. i need to drive it more, then i should know.

so-calvwdude Fri Sep 19, 2008 6:56 am

Dont have on yet, i need to drive it. But i find myself calling it "her" alot.
And all my friends call it blackout.

bassam Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:01 am

I was thinking "Angel" but i dont think that would stick.
I need a name for a girl that is kinda fluffy.... the kind you'd wanna pinch the cheeks !

aircoolnut Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:20 am

The PO of our square had named him "Stein." I don't usually call him by that name, but it's what I think of when a name comes to mind.

Sylvia.

"The Rusty Kraut".....that's what the guys at work call it.

busman78 Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:38 am

I would violate the rules of this forum with the names I have for mine.

Dryheave Fri Sep 19, 2008 7:48 am

Mine is named Herbert "Herb" for short

Mike Fisher Fri Sep 19, 2008 8:17 am

Mine is The Crate, short for The Egg Crate. I use it to deliver my free range brown eggs every Thursday.

Type3willy Fri Sep 19, 2008 8:40 am

Mine is male (of course): its name is ... Willy

swivel'n Fri Sep 19, 2008 8:40 am

my 69 square is lucy... yup fits her quite well.named her when i first bought her.. i was 14

burgandysquare Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:33 am

I guess I'm one of the exceptions with a female name. The whole story behind "Heidi", was my ex drove a new beetle, and that car was a lesbian (Don't ask, haha), and my car was the girlfriend. My ex called it Heidi and it just stuck. Fits really well too.

RodneyW Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:46 am

Daddy's Little Blue Car. The Ghia is Daddy's Little Red Car.

Tram Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:55 am

Right now, my Square is "Bob", an acronym for "Bucket of Bolts".
