When I was checking out the front turn signals on my '73 Standard, I made a few observations.

First, I noticed that each signal/parking light dome thing was missing a bulb. The front bulbs were both there, but there were no rear bulbs. What do these rear bulbs do, and what kind of bulbs do I need to put there? I noticed some lettering below the socket that said "4W / 2cp".

Second, I noticed that the single bulb on my drivers side had two filaments. Turn signals work just fine on this side, as do parking lights. However, on the passenger side, I noticed that the single bulb there only had one filament. Turn signals don't work on this side, and I suspect this is the problem. I thought I would test this by swapping the two bulbs and seeing if the passenger ones worked, but alas, the bulb with two filaments was rusted into its socket and broke when I was removing it. What kind of bulbs do I need to replace these?

Finally, I noticed something else, not necessarily just related to the front signals. For awgukem only my driver turn signals would work with the headlights on. Today, all signals worked with the headlights on, so I excitedly turned everything off and messed with the electricals a bit more and.. the passenger side ones stopped working again. After jiggling the emergency flashers switch a bit, they started working again. Is there any way I can keep my passenger signals working?

Yeah you need the two filament bulb to make the turn signal work the smaller bulbs behind the dual filaments are for the running or park lights they come on when you click the light switch to the first spot. Do your rear park lights work?

Go to your auto parts store of choice and they should be able to tell you what bulbs you need.

The bulb on the passengers side should be a dual filament. Look down into the socket and see if there are 2 contact prongs. Someone may have put the wrong bulb in it.
I think this is the marker light bulb that you have missing.

One of the filaments in the 2-filament bulb, along with the 2nd bulb are your marker lights. The other filament in the 2-filament bulb is the turn signal.
Any auto parts store should have the bulbs. See the chart below. 1034 is the big one, 57 is the small one.
EDIT: Osram Sylvania says you can use an 1157 and 1895, respectively.

This might with some of the more recent lamp part numbers.

For each of the light functions, the first number is the ANSI equivalent lamp part number for the German OEM lamp part number. The seconds number is a better performing ANSI lamp part number that is more readily available than the first. The ANSI lamp part numbers are what you are going to find at your local auto parts store.

The second numbers have significantly higher life ratings for the same lighting performance.
