View original topic: Any Clubs in the Four Corners region?

I live in Durango, CO and want to find a air head club near here. I drive a '73 Thing on a daily basis, and use it extensively of road. If there are no clubs near here, I will start one. Any suggestions on how to get a club/meetings going? I am naive, but are there requirements for such clubs(like starting a non-profit company)?

One requirement is that there be more than 4 (5 now with you) vw nuts in any given area, cause half of them (us) will be non-social and uninterested in being part of a club of any sort.
Is your thing the yellow one or the green?

Thanx for the input. I am now on a mission to corral more airheads, I have seen some very nice rides in town, so it should be do-able. My car is yellow, with the 15" chrome wheels. Once I figure out how to post pics, I will.

Are you from this area?

Saw you parked at kroegers today too :)

Hello Volks addict, my name is Paul. What do you drive? I would like to talk to you about a good airhead mechanic. I need altitude adjustments for das' solexes'. I also want to find someone who knows about eberspachers. We should meet for coffee or a splif.

There's a couple of us dub folks in Pagosa Springs too. I'm not sure there's enough of us in the area to form a real club but I'd be interested in a cruise or something where we could all get together and check out the local scene ??? My 65 Dlx is my usual driver but it doesn't make too many trips to Durango since dodging deer/elk with those wonderful 6V headlights isn't too fun

If you guys get anything going shoot me a PM. Always good to have more VW friends.

Hi cdollar,

We may be small group, but that seems appropriate. I would like to get together. Do you have a local mehanic? I would like to try to get the gas heater in my car working. Also, any ideas who may be able to straighten out my conv. top frame?

I pretty much do my own wrenching. I really wouldn't trust any of the garages here in Pagosa to work on my VWs, let alone my other vehicles. Thats what Durango is for  . When I've needed work done that I couldn't do myself (turning brake drums, press work, etc.) I take it to Rick at Durango Small Car. I think there's another shop further down Hwy 160 headed towards Hesperus that works on VWs too.

When I first got my gas heater it didn't work and I just went through the manual tracking stuff down till I got it working. In my case the fuel pump for the heater was clogged and the glow plug was burnt out. Both were pretty easy to diagnose and fix. Theres a guy out of Denver that sells glow plugs and other gas heater parts. As for the top frame, I really don't know. Mabye one of the shops there could give you a lead??
