| I was just had a question is there anyway for a person that wants to buy a vintage vw can check the accident history of a car? I believe that carfax has a limitation to 1982 and later year car is that correct? Please let me know. |

Interesting question, but I think you'd be barking up a "too-tall" tree. Unless the car was purchased and retained by the original owner until you purchased it, it's probably had some or lots of restoration work done to it.
Case in point is my 69. After a lot of work on it and extensive, detailed inspection, I've discovered that even though my bug looks authentic, it's most likely not. It has a 70 engine, 71 tail light fixtures, a trunk release in the wrong location, and the remote gas lid release has been "shaved" and replaced with a non-remote door.
Best of luck with your search. Perhaps some of the longer lived bug enthusiasts know better, but I don't see how.

| carfax requires a vin that is 17 digits. my girl works at a vw dealer and she couldnt help. i would love to know my cars history but i have yet to find a way. |
